Theatre Design
The theatre design concentration provides in-depth study and experience in costume,
set, or lighting design. Students gain theoretical knowledge and develop their skills
in design-based courses, such as Drafting and Computer-Aided Design, Costume Construction,
Lighting Theory and Practice, and Architecture and Decoration.
Students are also encouraged to choose a secondary design area of study. The comprehensive
core curriculum enables the design student to build a broad base of knowledge in theatre,
covering performance, technical theatre, theatre history, and other areas.
As you progress through the curriculum, you form a close mentoring relationship with
a faculty member in your area of specialization. After being admitted into the advanced
design sequence, upper-level design students may have the opportunity to design a
mainstage show.
