Karen Brown is the author of two novels, The Longings of Wayward Girls, and The Clairvoyants, and two short story collections—Little Sinners and Other Stories, which won the Prairie Schooner Book Prize and the John Gardner Fiction Book Award, and Pins and Needles: Stories, which was the recipient of AWP’s Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction. Her work has appeared in The O. Henry Prize Stories, Best American Short Stories, The New York Times, and Good Housekeeping, and in many literary magazines, most recently The Kenyon Review, Glimmer Train, and One Story. She studied creative writing at Cornell University, and received her Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Literature from USF, where she is currently a Continuing Instructor.
