Sadness
We all have times when we feel down. It's normal to feel sad when a relationship ends, there is conflict in the family, we have a heavy study load or financial difficulties. However, the gloomy feelings usually pass and we are able to experience happy times again. Sometimes the sad feelings don't go away - if this is you, the Counseling Center can help.
Depression
Symptoms of depression may include the following: •Difficulty concentrating and making decisions •Fatigue and decreased energy •Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, and/or helplessness •Feelings of hopelessness •Insomnia or excessive sleeping •Irritability, restlessness •Loss of interest in activities or hobbies •Overeating or appetite loss •Persistent sad, anxious, or "empty" feelings •Thoughts of suicide, suicide attempts
