Program Introduction
Program Leader: Matthew Mullarkey
The Honors South Africa program is a Summer A IDH 4200 class with two weeks of travel
to Pretoria and Cape Town embedded into course activities.
Students will learn about the history and culture of South Africa while analyzing
its local conditions and global standing as a member of the BRICS association.
CULTURAL IMMERSION
During their travels, students can expect to visit such culturally significant sites
as the Cradle of Humanity, Pilanesberg National Park, Soweto township, Table Mountain,
and Robben Island.
This program is for all Honors students, regardless of major, who are intrigued by
sticky wicket problems and want to examine the intersection of culture and developing
solutions.
