Graduate studies in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) prepare professionals for a variety of exciting and rewarding career opportunities. The CSD academic community offers a multi-disciplinary environment of clinicians, scientists, and scholars who contribute to a rich teaching, learning, and service atmosphere. Through close interaction with world-class faculty in a state-of-the-art facility, our students enhance their critical thinking abilities, broaden their knowledge base, and develop practical, clinical, and research skills that launch their professional careers.
Nationally ranked graduate programs in audiology and speech-language pathology prepare students to practice as certified audiologists and speech-language pathologists. These programs are supported by strong, dedicated faculty and outstanding classroom and clinical placement opportunities.
Our research Ph.D. programs prepare students for academic, teaching, and research careers with emphases on human communication, associated disorders, and treatment of those disorders. Collaborative and often interdisciplinary programs of study are tailored to the individual student and leverage the world-class expertise and experience of our research and clinical faculty. Students seeking advanced clinical degrees benefit from our Hearing Clinic and Speech-Language Clinic while students seeking a Ph.D. take advantage of the outstanding research facilities within the department and across the USF campus.
