Master's Program
Overview
The Clinical Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling (CRMHC) Program at the University ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) through 2032. The master's program is a 60 credit program and most students take 2β3 years to complete.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Program is to promote quality behavioral health care for all, particularly people with disabilities, and to help the state and nation meet their human service and workforce needs in the area of rehabilitation and mental health counseling through teaching, research and service. The program prepares students with a solid grounding to become Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC) and Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC).
Program Objectives
- Recruit and admit a highly qualified and diverse student body.
- Provide high quality teaching and inspire learning in rehabilitation and mental health counseling.
- Increase the number of students who possess the requisite knowledge and earn credentials to become licensed mental health counselors and/or certified rehabilitation counselors working within the healthcare workforce.
National Ranking
The CRMHC Program is among the nation's top 50 in Best Health Schools, Rehabilitation Counseling, according to recent rankings released by U.S. News & World Report, which ranks our program #46.
Our Students
In 2023-2024, 36 students graduated, and the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor exam passing rate for the period of 10/2023-7/2024 was 71%.
Where Do Our Graduates Work?
Employment settings where graduates work include state vocational rehabilitation agencies, not-for-profit rehabilitation facilities or community-based rehabilitation programs, federal agency (e.g., Veterans Administration), for-profit or non-profit agencies providing mental health counseling, private practice-rehabilitation, private practice-counseling, substance abuse treatment, and other community based settings (clinics, schools, workplace).
