About
Our Commitment to Community

Statement
The Department of Molecular Biosciences believes that science will be stronger when talented scientists work together. Indeed, we are committed to identify, develop, support and maintain the quality of our scientific human capital.
"Every facet of the United States scientific research enterprise, from basic laboratory research to clinical and translational research to policy formation, requires superior intellect, creativity and a wide range of skill sets and viewpoints.â€
The National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Research shows that heterogeneous teams working together and capitalizing on innovative ideas and distinct perspectives outperform homogenous teams. Scientists and trainees from all backgrounds and life experiences bring different perspectives, creativity, and individual enterprise to address complex scientific problems. Therefore, as stewards of the NIH research enterprise, it is our goal to enhance the research environment within our department, with the goal of fostering scientific innovation, enhancing global competitiveness, contributing to robust learning environments, improving the quality of the researchers, and enhancing the public trust.
Our committee on Professional and Community Development has these goals at its core as it develops strategies to work with MBS researchers, our community and stakeholder to advance our research mission.
