BIO
Heather Jones is a playwright and novelist. Her work explores themes of individual and community trauma, class differences and isolation. Stylistically she explores magical realism, absurdism, experimental structures and multiple viewpoints. Her artistic research interests include the American Civil War, Appalachian history and culture and religion.
Jones’s plays include Last Rites, which inspired GLO (Green Light One-Acts), an annual festival of one-acts by women; The Hoarder’s Child, which appeared at The Philly Fringe Festival, and won Most Inspirational Work at the Asheville Fringe Festival; and My Unspeakable Confessions: Gala Dali Declines to Explain Herself, which has recurrent productions at The Dali Museum. Her writing has been published in literary magazines, including The Louisville Review, Cartagena Journal, ConnotationPress: An Online Artifact, Cleaver, The Gloria Sirens and Sawgrass Literary Journal.
Jones teaches first year writing and creative writing. Her academic research interests include the value of reflection in first year writing and the exploration of non-traditional workshop structures in creative writing.
