Outreach and Access

Events

USF features several special events and programs designed to welcome prospective students from underrepresented populations and special groups like AVID, TRiO, Take Stock in Children and more.

Group Visits

We welcome and encourage campus visits from groups like AVID, Take Stock in Children, TRIO, Upward Bound or high school and community-based organizations of 10 or more. We offer guided group tours Monday through Friday at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., excluding holidays and campus closures.

Due to the large volume of requests we receive for group tours, we are not able to provide guided tours to elementary or middle schools. However, we encourage these groups to take a self-guided, video or virtual tour of campus.

All groups interested in scheduling a visit must register online at least 45 days prior to the requested visit date.

College Preview Day at USF

USF College Preview Day

UPCOMING EVENTS

The College Preview Day event is designed for prospective students in grades 9-12 from historically underserved/underrepresented populations who are considered first-generation college attendees.

At this event, students will learn more about the opportunities that await them at USF by interacting with members of the campus community and experiencing various aspects of college life. Students will also be equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary for success in the college admissions process. Scheduled programming includes an admissions information session, financial aid information session, campus tour and question-and-answer session with a diverse student panel.

College Preview is invitation only for high schools and on a first-come, first-served basis for community-based organizations. USF College Preview Day is hosted in the spring of each school yearFor more information, contact OutreachAccess@usf.edu.

AVID Days at USF Graphic

AVID DAYS at USF

AVID is a national nonprofit that changes lives by helping schools shift to a more equitable, student-centered approach. The majority of AVID students come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and underserved communities.

The goal of the AVID program is to close the opportunity gap these students face. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ is proud to coordinate with AVID-affiliated schools to support their mission by preparing students for college.

USF sponsors a month-long visitation experience to help prepare AVID students for college. During this event, students will be exposed to important aspects of higher learning that they may not get otherwise:

  • Adapting to university student life
  • Navigating the college admissions process
  • Preparing for college-level academics
  • Identifying college funding opportunities

During AVID Days, USF only welcomes high school AVID programs to participate. For more information on requirements, timing and registering, contact OutreachAccess@usf.edu.

GAPP Day at USF

Gapp Day

The Guaranteed Admissions Pathway Partnership (GAPP) increases admissions opportunities for students from first-generation and special populations. Each semester, USF hosts GAPP Days as an invitation only experience for GAPP partners.
GAPP Day invites partner schools to USF Tampa with an introduction to campus partners and resources, the application process, student involvement opportunities plus a campus tour. We are piloting GAPP Day in Spring 2025 with schools who have not visited USF or have not had a special visit to their high school this year.
