Information regarding affiliated organizations and various additional resources associated with TTO.

The Association of Public Land-Grant Universities Commission on Innovation, Competitiveness and Economic Prosperity is focused on:

  1. Understanding and defining the expanding university role in local and regional innovation;
  2. Expanding the tools and metrics for universities to measure and explain their role to a wide range of audiences;
  3. Gaining a better understanding of the innovation ecologies in which A-P-L-U institutions operate. 

Through a series of workshops and meetings, the Commission will assemble a set of tools, resources and standards of practice that universities can utilize to make the most effective contribution to innovation and economic growth. Members should include: academic affairs; research and graduate administration; public and governmental affairs; business and engineering departments; and outreach, economic development, and technology transfer and entrepreneurship programs.

The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) promotes the development and operations of research parks that foster innovation, commercialization and economic competitiveness in a global economy through collaboration among universities, industry and government.

AUTM provides professional development and networking opportunities for technology transfer professionals at all career levels and from established and newly forming organizations worldwide. AUTM's global network of members come from more than 350 universities, research institutions, teaching hospitals and government agencies as well as hundreds of companies involved with managing and licensing innovations derived from academic and nonprofit research.

BioFlorida, Florida's independent statewide bioscience organization serves its members by providing the infrastructure to exchange information and ideas through industry specific programming, education, networking and legislative initiatives.

The Bradenton Area Economic Development Corp. (EDC) is recognized by Enterprise Florida as the lead economic development organization for the Bradenton Area's nine communities located on the south side of Tampa Bay. The EDC works to diversify the local economy by attracting and retaining high-wage jobs for area residents, and connecting existing businesses to the resources they need to succeed.

The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County is a successful public/private partnership focused on growing and diversifying the economy of Sarasota County, while enhancing the county's unique natural and cultural environments.

Enterprise Florida Inc. (EFI) is a public-private partnership serving as Florida's primary organization devoted to statewide economic development. EFI's mission is to diversify Florida's economy and create better paying jobs for its citizens by supporting, attracting and helping to create globally competitive businesses in innovative, high-growth industries.

ExpertNet connects business, industry and government with resources and expertise in Florida's universities. ExpertNet is a statewide portal of applied research expertise in Florida's universities and is designed to provide quick and easy access to university-based resources and expertise to assist in practical solutions for business, industry, and government.

The Florida Business Incubation Association (FBIA) shares information and develops programs that support the successful growth and operation of business incubators throughout Florida.

The Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC) is a primary resource for policy development, legislative updates, education, networking and professional advancement. Over 500 professionals statewide count on FEDC to provide leadership, communications, peer recognition and networking.

The Florida High Tech Corridor Council (FHTCC) was established by the Legislature in 1996 to attract, retain and grow high tech industry and to help develop the workforce to support those industries in the 21-county service areas of the University of Central Florida (UCF) and the Â鶹ÊÓƵ (USF). The FHTCC matching grant program provides matching funds to private sector partner funds and in kind contributions according to the terms and conditions of the program from $10,000 to $150,000.

The Florida Medical Manufacturers Consortium (FMMC) is a statewide association of medical technology firms. The FMMC exists to unite, promote and grow the Florida medical device industry, and to enhance the business success of its member companies.

The goal of The Florida Venture Forum is to help ensure the success of entrepreneurial ventures by offering expert counsel, educational advice and managerial assistance. The Florida Venture Forum is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization that is supported locally by private companies, service providers, venture capitalists and academic institutions.

The Florida Virtual Entrepreneur Center (FLVEC) is a web portal designed to provide a robust and easy-to-use resource for local entrepreneurs to find information and services to support their new or growing business.

The Chamber is a not-for-profit business membership organization that helps promote the businesses and business interests of our members.

InBIA is a global non-profit organization that has welcomed and supported entrepreneurial organizations for over 30 years. Serving a diverse group of entrepreneurship centers, program managers, directors and policymakers, we help guide, mentor and develop sustainable entrepreneur support programs in every industry and demographic around the globe. Our goal is to enrich the entire ecosystem by providing industry resources, education, events and global programming to help our members better serve the needs of their unique communities and regions.

The LES Foundation was established in 2000 by the Licensing Executives Society, (USA & Canada), Inc., to increase awareness and understanding of the licensing of intellectual property rights (IP) and to communicate the critical role licensing plays in bringing creativity and innovation to the commercial marketplace.

Mote Marine Laboratory has been a leader in marine research since it was founded in 1955. Today, Mote incorporates public outreach as a key part of their mission. Mote is an independent nonprofit organization and has seven centers for marine research, the public Mote Aquarium and an Education Division specializing in public programs for all ages.

The USF Academy of Inventors has been established to recognize the contributions of scientist-inventors across all disciplines in the USF community.

Formed in 1987, the Pasco Economic Development Council (Pasco EDC) is the lead economic development organization dedicated to the overall growth and prosperity of Pasco County through the development of a sustainable and diversified economy.

Pinellas County Economic Development (PCED) works with existing businesses to encourage expansion and seeks to attract new companies with high-wage careers to our community.

Southeast BIO (SEBIO)'s mission is to foster the growth of the life sciences industry in the Southeastern United States by promoting entrepreneurship and bringing together the key stakeholders active in the development of the industry.

SRI International's Marine Technology Program, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, specializes in the study of surface and subsurface marine environments. These studies involve experiments, research, development, deployment, and operations of advanced sensors and their systems. The staff conducts research and engineering in optics, acoustics, MEMS, mass spectrometry, and related marine sciences.

The St. Petersburg Area EDC's mission is to enhance the community's economic prosperity through marketing, activation and connection.

State Science and Technology Institute (SSTI) strengthens initiatives to create a better future through science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.

USF Research Foundation

The USF Research Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization established to promote, encourage and provide assistance to the research activities of university faculty, staff and students.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is the Federal agency for granting U.S. patents and registering trademarks. The USPTO advises the President of the United States, the Secretary of Commerce, and U.S. Government agencies on intellectual property (IP) policy, protection, and enforcement; and promotes the stronger and more effective IP protection around the world.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is dedicated to developing a balanced and accessible international intellectual property (IP) system, which rewards creativity, stimulates innovation and contributes to economic development while safeguarding the public interest.
