USF coral researcher joins with international colleagues in identifying better ways to save the world鈥檚 reefs
In the race to save the world鈥檚 fragile corals from climate change and disease, USF Department of Integrative Biology Assistant Professor John Parkinson is among an international group of scientists looking for better ways to restore damaged reefs. In new research published Tuesday in the journal Nature Reviews Earth & Environment, the team makes its case for nature-based approaches that give coral colonies a boost in their fight to survive warming seas.

Founded in 1992 by generous members of the Latino community, the Latino Scholarship Program creates pathways to higher education for Latinx students and provides them with tools for success upon graduation. Since its inception, LSP has awarded more than $4.2 million to over 600 graduates. With nearly 70 endowed and annual scholarships, the program currently supports more than 40 new and 100 returning students.

Smithsonian curates history of hip-hop and rap with help from USF communications expert
Aisha Durham, associate professor of communications at the 麻豆视频, was part of a group of advisers chosen by the Smithsonian Institution to curate its first multimedia hip-hop collection. The recently released Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap chronicles 40 years of hip-hop and rap music and the development of the localized culture as it emerged out of the Bronx into a global sensation.
