Dear USF community,
I would like to share an important update about my leadership team.
For the past several years, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Kim Hill has brought a strategic focus to our communications and marketing efforts, helping to enhance the university’s reputation while creating more intentional internal communications.
Kim recently informed me that she has been offered a unique opportunity within the private sector that offers her tremendous growth potential; she will be leaving her position at USF effective April 21. While this is a great loss for the university, we are thrilled for Kim and wish her the best in this new opportunity.
With Kim’s departure, I have asked Dan Caterinicchia, who leads communications for the USF Foundation, to serve as Acting Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer beginning April 21.
Under Kim’s leadership, USF launched a series of targeted marketing campaigns that resulted in the first increase of our peer assessment score, used to determine U.S. News & World Report rankings, in four years. Her team also conducted new brand research to clarify our messaging, content strategy and visual identity. That work is wrapping up this spring, and it will be shared via the network of professional communications teams that UCM has empowered across the university.
Kim has brought a greater focus on internal communications, launching the bi-weekly Inside USF newsletter and the Inside USF podcast, and creating more regular touchpoints with the USF community, such as presidential town halls. Under her leadership, UCM revamped the MyUSF intranet and will soon provide a more comprehensive brand portal to give employees access to creative assets, tools and templates to ensure cohesiveness with our brand.
Kim has also helped steer the university through a tremendous amount of change and challenge over the past few years, including consolidation, the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple presidential transitions, and myriad other issues that arise at a public organization of our size.
Importantly, Kim has built a world-class team of talented professionals within the University Communications and Marketing departments across our three campuses, who will ensure that this good work does not lose momentum.
Please join me in congratulating Kim, thanking her for her contributions to USF, and wishing her and her family the very best.
