Dear USF faculty and staff,
As a Tampa native who grew up attending schools in Hillsborough County and ultimately graduating from Chamberlain High School, I saw first-hand the important role educators can play in inspiring the next generation to explore different career paths and pursue higher education. Later this month, we all have an opportunity to make a positive impact by meeting with Tampa Bay area students during the Great American Teach-In.
As part of USF’s commitment to being active and engaged in our local communities, this year we are working to be more intentional about coordinating the university’s efforts to support the Great American Teach-In on Thursday, Nov. 17, in Hillsborough County. Hosted as part of American Education Week, the Great American Teach-In welcomes community members as guest speakers in classrooms to share insights about their careers and the experiences that helped them get to where they are today. I will be volunteering my time at a nearby school, and I encourage you to join me for this exciting event by signing up to visit a local school.
USF’s involvement in the Great American Teach-In is an opportunity to build a deeper connection with our community and raise awareness about opportunities available at our great university. This effort is beginning in Hillsborough County with the goal of expanding to include more school districts across the Tampa Bay region next year.
For more information about how to register, how you can get USF-branded items to take on your visit, and answers to other questions you may have, please visit our website here.
Thank you for your willingness to participate and I look forward to seeing this initiative grow in the future.
Sincerely,
Rhea F. Law
President
