An update to shows a strong showing from faculty at the USF College of Marine Science. The study identifies the top 2% researchers worldwide across all fields of study, based on their citation impact up until the end of 2020. Eleven current faculty and one retired-emeritus faculty member made the list.
“This is a remarkable achievement, and I’m pleased to our faculty and their teams getting the attention they deserve,” said CMS dean Tom Frazer. “The innovative work being done by all of our faculty is the reason we are on such a strong growth trajectory here at the College of Marine Science.”
For career-long impact, the following College of Marine Science faculty are recognized:
- Chuanmin Hu ranked #65 in the field of Geological & Geomatics Engineering (total 52,403 published researchers).
- Robert Byrne and Al Hine ranked #24 and #279 respectively in the field of Oceanography (total 16,540 published researchers).
- Pam Hallock ranked #78 in the field of Paleontology (total 19,448 published researchers).
- Mya Breitbart ranked #783 in the field of Microbiology (total 165,244 published researchers).
- Frank Muller-Karger, Don Chambers, Robert Weisberg, and Gary Mitchum ranked #783, #803, #1283 and #1375 respectively in the field of Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences (total 63,897 published researchers).
- Steve Murawski ranked #146 in the field of Fisheries (total 32,323 published researchers).
- Brad Seibel ranked #624 in the field of Marine Biology & Hydrobiology (total 42,163 published researchers).
