Alumna receives Kappa Delta Pi Distinguished Chapter Officer Award
TAMPA, Fla. (July 26, 2018) – USF College of Education alumna Paige Millirons, English Education `18, received the Distinguished Chapter Officer Award from Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education.
Founded in 1911, Kappa Delta Pi fosters excellence in education and promotes fellowship among those dedicated to the teaching profession. The Distinguished Chapter Officer Award is presented to current or immediate past officers who set positive examples for their chapters by representing the ideals of Kappa Delta Pi.
Millirons served as president of the USF chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, Lambda Tau, during her senior year. As president she helped grow the USF chapter, resulting in an increase in membership by 220 percent. Millirons also worked to foster increased participation, communication and interest in officer positions.
While leading the organization, Millirons was a full-time student at USF, a color guard coach at a local high school and worked a part-time job.
“As President of the Lambda Tau chapter this past year, (Millirons) was the driving force behind its growth in not just members, but also in development of chapter identity, participating in events and recognition on campus,” said Adrienne Pollard, an academic advisor in the College of Education who also serves as advisor for the Lambda Tau chapter.
Millirons will teach at Freedom High School in the upcoming school year. She will be recognized with an award at Kappa Delta Pi’s annual conference, Convocation 2018, in Indianapolis, Ind. on Nov. 1-3. For more information about Kappa Delta Pi, visit the organization’s .
