 Maayan Lawental

Maayan Lawental, Ph.D., MSW is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the USF School of Social Work. She chairs the School’s Curriculum Committee and the Faculty Council on Student Admissions at the university level. Dr. Lawental is an expert in substance use disorders, with a research focus on access to care, service gaps, and treatment effectiveness. She holds a joint courtesy appointment in the USF College of Public Health’s Department of Community & Family Health and is a faculty affiliate at the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute. She has led multidisciplinary research initiatives and collaborated on international evaluation studies. Dr. Lawental earned her BSW and MSW from the University of Haifa in Israel and her Ph.D. in Social Welfare from the University of Pennsylvania
