Students studying aging sciences and long term care toured Unisen Senior Living and met with administration and residents to learn more about living and working at the facility. Associate Professor Debra Dobbs, PhD led the excursion as part of her Long Term Care Policy class.
The students spoke with Community Cultural Development Coordinator Michelle Cronin and Executive Director Michael Brown as well as a group of residents. The residents, Dorothy, Maxine, Jim (who has been a resident for 15 years), and Tom, a veteran and new resident, said one of their favorite activities is the opportunity to attend classes right on property offered by USF’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
The students will return for volunteer opportunities and to immerse themselves and gain a deeper understanding of work and resident life at Unisen Senior Living.
