CSD students get hands-on experience at Pinellas County ESE Centers

CSD graduate students visit the Nina Harris Exceptional Student Education Center

CSD graduate students visit the Nina Harris Exceptional Student Education Center.

Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) graduate students have been assisting speech-language pathologists at the Nina Harris and Paul B Stephens Exceptional Student Education (ESE) centers. Clinical Instructors Marian Lowther, MS, CCC-SLP, and Katie Johnson are supervising students at these sites as they obtain hands-on experience providing interventions with specialized populations.

These centers are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment where students with severe or profound special needs can build self-confidence, independence, and self-esteem to maximize their success at home, school, and in the community. Pinellas ESE centers provide a highly specialized curriculum due to significant behavioral challenges paired with significant delays in development and/or medical needs requiring continuous intervention from trained staff.
