Faculty members of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) received a $50,000 Therapy and Research Center grant from the Parkinson's Voice Project to provide free SPEAK OUT! therapy services over the course of five years to individuals who have Parkinson's Disease or a related movement disorder. The goal is to provide services at no cost to those who may not have insurance coverage or those who have exhausted benefits and may reside out of the local area.
Kelli Gorajec, MA, CCC-SLP is the primary clinical faculty and speech-language pathologist (SLP) responsible for the grant. Alexandra Brandimore, PhD, CCC-SLP will serve as the primary research faculty and SLP. Other SLP clinical instructors, CSD colleagues and graduate students will participate and be integral in the program as well.
The team will provide both in person therapy services at the USF-CSD clinic and teletherapy services to those residing around Florida. USF is currently the only university in the state to receive the Therapy and Research Center grant and is just one of 16 universities across the country.
