On June 28 and 29, Nathan Maxfield, PhD, CCC-SLP, an associate professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), participated in the 2023 National Institutes of Health-National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIH-NIDCD) Workshop on Stuttering. The workshop invited about 50 internationally recognized researchers from around the world to inform NIDCD funding priorities in the area of stuttering.
Labs with current NIDCD funding in the area of stuttering presented research findings. Break-out groups discussed/debated research priorities related to stuttering as NIDCD staff listened in and took notes. The last NIDCD-sponsored workshop specifically devoted to the topic of stuttering was held in 2005.
