Criminology alum to serve as acting chief of Tampa Police Department

Lee Bercaw

Bercaw obtained his bachelors in criminology and master's degree in criminal justice administration from USF.

Criminology alum and Assistant Chief of the Tampa Police Department Lee Bercaw, PhD will serve as acting chief of the Tampa Police Department while a comprehensive national search is conducted. Bercaw obtained his bachelor's degree in criminology and master's degree in criminal justice administration from USF, and his doctorate in criminal justice, with a specialization in homeland security, from Saint Leo University. His research focus encompasses human trafficking and the perceived phenomenon of a surge during large-scale events. Bercaw also serves as an adjunct professor with USF and represents the Department of Criminology on the CBCS Advisory Council.
