Programs of Strategic Emphasis Waiver-Eligibility
STUDENT ELIGIBILITY
In order to qualify for the Programs of Strategic Emphasis Waiver, students must be certain eligibility criteria, this includes:
- Students must be Florida residents for tuition purposes (in-state residency).
- Students must have earned at least 60 semester credit hours toward a baccalaureate
degree within 2 academic years after initial enrollment at a Florida public post-secondary
institution.
- Initial enrollment is defined as the first registration in a public post-secondary
institution after earning a high school diploma.
- The 60 semester credit hours must be earned/granted at a Florida public post-secondary
institution.
- PLEASE NOTE: Grade forgiveness will change a student's earned hours and could effect a student's
eligiblility for the waiver. This could include removal of the waiver for prior terms.
- Dual enrollment from high school credits earned at a Florida public post-secondary
institution count towards the 60 credit requirement as long as the student begins
initial enrollment at a Florida public post-secondary institution.
- Can only be applied towards a first bachelor’s degree.
- Students must be enrolled and accepted into one of the twelve Programs of Strategic Emphasis as adopted by the Board of Governors. This program must be the student's primary major.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, the Florida Board of Governors selected the following eight programs in science, technology, engineering, or math to be eligible for the waiver:

Beginning with the 2022-2023 academic year, the Florida Board of Governors selected two additional programs in the critical workforce gap analysis category to be eligible for the waiver:
