Chris Pyfrom is a native of Tampa and a graduate of Howard W. Blake High School. He received a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre: Scenic Technology and Design from the Department of Theatre at Louisiana State University. There, his foci included technical direction, production management, sound design, and lighting design. Chris has served in many capacities in the theatre industry such as technical director, scenic carpenter, scenic designer, sound designer, front-of-house engineer, monitor mixer, recording engineer, lighting designer, master electrician, musical director, conductor, calling stage manager, spot operator, deck captain, and fly captain. He has worked with companies such as Opera Saratoga in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Center Stage Performing Arts Academy in Gonzales, La; and Baton Rouge Little Theatre, Baton Rouge River Center, Louisiana State University (LSU) Dance, LSU Theatre, LSU Union Theatre, Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts, Playmakers, The Runnels School, and Zachary High School in Baton Rouge, La.
Prior to graduate school Chris received his bachelor’s degree in music education from LSU in 2008 and holds a level two teaching certificate with additional certification in the supervision of student teachers. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Chris worked in the LSU School of Music recording studio and as a freelance sound designer and engineer throughout the greater Baton Rouge area. Upon completion of his bachelor’s degree, he served as a middle school and church choir director; a musical director for local theatres; and a freelance designer and technician.
