Francesca Arnone joined the USF faculty in 2018, teaching flute and chamber music to undergraduate and graduate students. She directs the USF Flute Ensemble and is an affiliate faculty member of the Judy Genshaft Honors College. She is a Powell Artist and an Alexander Technique Teacher Trainee.

Dr. Arnone grew up in Port Charlotte, Florida, and earned degrees from Oberlin College Conservatory (BM), San Francisco Conservatory (MM), and the University of Miami (DMA/cognate Musicology). Prior to USF, she taught at Boise State, West Virginia, Idaho State, and Baylor universities, as well as many summer festivals and music camps. She was the 2018 Program Chair for the National Flute Association and serves as Vice-President as of November 2024.

Arnone has held Principal Flute, Second Flute, and Piccolo positions in orchestras in the US and Mexico, and regularly collaborates with chamber ensembles and orchestras around the state of Florida. She has been a concerto soloist on flute, alto flute, and piccolo, on repertoire ranging from Bach to Chen Yi. Notable performances include recitals at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Royal Northern College of Music, Royal Conservatory of Madrid, Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice, and National Sawdust as part of the New York Philharmonic鈥檚 Biennial Celebration of New Music. A featured guest artist at flute festivals around the country, she has also performed at numerous flute conventions, including those of the National Flute Association, British Flute Society, Spanish Flute Association, and the International Flute Festival of Costa Rica. A favorite highlight: being a year-long participant in Bobby McFerrin鈥檚 鈥淐reativity 101鈥 class at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. More information on her .
