19 new students welcomed into Dean鈥檚 Student Leadership Society

The USF College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) welcomed 19 new members to the Dean鈥檚 Student Leadership Society (DSLS). DSLS students are chosen for their superior leadership skills, often serving as volunteer coordinators, executive board members, or critical points of contact on behalf of CAS. DSLS also provides students with mentorship opportunities, professional development workshops, and year-round networking.

The USF College of Arts and Sciences Humanities Institute鈥檚 (HI) held their annual Blind Date With a Book on April 25 outside the Tampa campus library.

A new true crime docuseries, 鈥淭he Lesson Is Murder,鈥 follows 麻豆视频 criminology Associate Professor Bryanna Fox and her five graduate students as they show the reality of how researchers analyze convicted murderers鈥 personality traits and motives to develop psychological profiles. Dr. Fox is cofounder of the USF College of Arts and Sciences Center for Justice Research and Policy.

USF anthropologists improve access to fresh produce by teaching local K-12 students how to grow it themselves

As the cost of food rises, USF researchers remain focused on households struggling with food insecurity. The two-year program aims to educate communities on the food growing ecosystem and healthy eating.

USF Tampa campus adds 44 new trees in honor of Arbor Day

The USF Tree Committee, which is comprised of USF faculty, staff, students, and volunteers from the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, the city of Temple Terrace, Tampa Electric (TECO), and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, hosted a tree planting ceremony on March 28i n honor of Arbor Day (April 28).

Chemistry students practice presentation skills at Castle Conference

The USF College of Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry held its annual Raymond N. Castle Student Research Conference in early March. The conference, which is organized largely by students, showcases both undergraduate and graduate student research with the intent for 鈥測oung scientists to develop the necessary communication skills to excel in the future.鈥
