Sylvia F. Carra-Hahn, Ph.D. ‘69
Sylvia Fernandez Carra-Hahn was born and raised in Tampa. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from USF in 1969 and went on to become a National Defense Education Act Fellow at the University of Mississippi where she received her MA and Ph.D. in Psychology. She was awarded a U.S. Public Health Fellowship and completed her internship at the University of Alabama Medical School.
She had a solo practice in Clinical Psychology in Tampa for 43 years. While in private practice Dr. Carra-Hahn served on the Florida Psychological Association Board of Directors and was President of the Bay Region Chapter of the FPA. She also served on the Board of the Morning Star School for many years. Since retirement, Dr. Carra-Hahn has been a public member of the Citizens Advisory Committee of the Florida Bar Board of Governors and on the Hillsborough County Grievance Committee for the Florida Bar. Dr. Carra-Hahn has been designated a USF Outstanding Alumnus. She continues to enjoy the life-long enrichment USF provides to the Tampa Bay community by remaining active with the College of Arts and Sciences.
